"The ’Sneeze’" is a collection of comedic short stories and plays from the renowned Russian author and playwright, Anton Chekhov. Although best known for his more serious works such as "Uncle Vanya" and "The Cherry Orchard", his early career was as a humourist and satirist. These seven plays focus on the absurdities of the mundanity of everyday life, with hilarious results. The world of Chekhov’s plays remains unique, but as recognisable today as when they were first written.
Michael Frayn is best known as the writer of "Noises Off", but is also one of Britain’s finest translators of Chekhov’s work. This version of "The’Sneeze’" was first performed in 1988 and featured Rowan Atkinson. | |
